  • 10 ingredients
  • 15 minutes
  • 4 Servings

Ingredients

1 pound ground turkey
2 packages of chopped vegetables, fresh or frozen (10 ounces each)
2 thin slices of ginger root, minced
1 garlic clove, minced
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 tablespoon fish sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon brown sugar
1/2 cup fresh Thai basil leaves

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, and brown sugar. Set aside.
  2. Heat a fry pan over high temperature. Add the vegetable oil and allow it to heat up.
  3. Add the minced ginger and garlic to the pan, and stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground turkey and chopped vegetables to the pan. Stir-fry for approximately 5 minutes, adjusting the heat to prevent scorching.
  5. If the vegetables are still firm, add 1-2 tablespoons of water to the pan, cover it, and cook for an additional 1 minute or until the vegetables are tender.
  6. Pour the mixed sauce over the vegetables and turkey in the pan. Cook for another 1 minute, ensuring everything is well-coated with the sauce.
  7. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the fresh Thai basil leaves.
  8. Serve the stir-fry hot and enjoy!

Notes

Prep Ahead: Chop and prepare all your ingredients in advance to streamline the cooking process and ensure everything is ready when needed.

Use Fresh and Vibrant Vegetables: Opt for fresh vegetables whenever possible to ensure vibrant colors, textures, and flavors in your stir-fry. However, if using frozen vegetables, make sure they are not overcooked to maintain their crispness.

Adjust Seasonings to Taste: Feel free to adjust the amount of soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, and brown sugar according to your preference. Taste the sauce before adding it to the stir-fry and make any necessary adjustments to suit your desired flavor profile.

Control the Heat: Adjust the heat level on your stove to prevent scorching or burning the ingredients. Stir-frying on high heat allows for quick cooking and helps retain the crispness of the vegetables.

Avoid Overcooking the Turkey: Ground turkey cooks relatively quickly, so be mindful not to overcook it, as it can become dry and lose its tenderness. Stir-fry until the turkey is cooked through and no longer pink.

Add Thai Basil at the End: Stir in the fresh Thai basil leaves at the end of cooking to preserve their vibrant flavor and aroma.

Serve with Accompaniments: Consider serving the stir-fry over steamed rice or alongside noodles for a complete and satisfying meal. Garnish with additional Thai basil leaves or chopped cilantro for added freshness.
